Odessa

Howdi all - a quick update...
So I got off the train in Odessa 6 am this morning, a few hrs ago. The night train from Simferopol, in the Crimea, was cool. I was sitting between two young Ukrainians who could speak english, and the guy, who just fot back from the U.S, was really cool: he actually suggested we both speak each other's language AND he gave me 3 burnt CDs of Russian and Ukrainian music, including the famed Aria.

I'm not sure how long I'll be here for. So far, besides lots of stray dogs and street-sweepers, Odessa seems full of big old buildings and avenues of trees.

But the Crimea was great - I should fill ya in on what did down there.
Started in Simferopol, spent the night in a private room. Simferopol is kind of dead - not much there, really. So I headed to Yalta on 'the longest trolley-bus in the world'. yalta is a tourist town - very clean, lots of shiny-new public infrastructure, like Sotchi. There 3 days, then Backchiserai one night. Then Sevastopol for an arfternoon.

And now Odessa.
