Heya ....
So the train ride form Cologne to here was interesting. For half the trip I was in the company of an 8-strong buck´s party, on their merry way to Hamburg to do an all-nighter, before heading back to their village at 530 the following morning. The beer was flowing, and they were generous with it.
Who was I to decline their hospitality? The rest of the time I chatted with a German lass studing in Denmark. She told me the secret to pronouncing Danish names is imagining being punched in the guts mid-word. Eg CopenHUH´n.
Last night I also called a Copenhagian I found through couchsurfing.com about crashing at his place, but his girlfriend had just hurt her wrist iceskating and he had to take her to emergency. So I did the 23 euro hostel thing.
But today I called back & found my way to his flat, from where I write you now. He´s a classic: 30, recently given away his marketing job to start a couple of companies in IT and biotech. He gave me a set of keys and instructions for VOIP telephone calls on the laptop, and went off somewhere with the other half. I´m in business....
Copenhagen´s got a blustery, damp, 10 deg C thing going on that reminds me of winters back in Adelaide. I think I´d take the still -2 with snow... but we take what we´re given. Time to explore.
Adieu,
